Fifteen years after my time at Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College, I cannot say enough of how my college years impacted my decisions as to what, where, and how I might end up serving the Lord. After five years of full-time Christian service at HBBC, God led me to take a step of faith with a secular job and enter lay-service at Bible Baptist Church of Stillwater, OK. He has blessed beyond anything I could have imagined with the ability to influence the lost consistently through my day job while allowing me numerous opportunities to serve Him through my church, including: the BBC Chorale which I’ve served as accompanist for the past 10 years; the Global Baptist Times which I helped transition the print and design format under my pastor, Wayne Hardy; additional graphic design for various church needs such as tracts and brochures;  piano instruction for church kids; College & Career outreach at Oklahoma State University and our local community; additional music ministry involvement, and now, editing and publishing sheet music through our church’s RevivalSong! ministry.

While I sometimes feel tucked away in Stillwater, God has afforded me many opportunities to have a ministry impact beyond my local church. I encourage other graduates in lay-service not to take lightly the position of service God has placed you in no matter how small you may think it is. He can and will use you to reach beyond your immediate circle of influence if you’ll remain faithful and available. Those of us not in full-time ministry have more opportunity to focus and develop our talents and abilities to add to the Lord’s work. Use your time wisely, always be preparing, and you’ll be ready when those unexpected opportunities of service arise.
