Colorado Regional Alumni Meeting

Greetings from Longmont, CO!

In the past few weeks, you have probably heard of Longmont, CO or possibly Boulder, CO, which is only a few miles west of us. Just a few weeks ago, we experienced historic flooding in which the normally peaceful creeks of Longmont turned into rushing rivers nearly as wide as the Mississippi, yet violent enough to destroy bridges and highways all around town. Neighborhoods were evacuated. Businesses were under water. Longmont was divided in half. All of this took place in a matter of one day.

That Sunday, our regular schedule of Scripture reading from the Psalms for our morning service led us to Psalm 93:3-4, which reads, “The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.”

Isn’t God so good that when our entire world seems to be in turmoil and under water, He reminds us that He is mightier than any problem that we may face in this life? I was reminded of this wonderful truth, once again, during the Colorado Regional Alumni Meeting that our church had the privilege to host today. We had set out to raise $1,000 to give toward the renovation of the conference room.

Once the meeting had begun, I saw that there were only ten total alumni that had attended the meeting. The floods began to rise in my spirit, and I thought, “There is no way that we will be able to raise this money.” However, God, yet again, gave us a small reminder of who He is. Bro. Park Sutton, Bro. Allen Payne, and Bro. Sam Davison preached about the sovereignty and righteousness of God and how all we have to do is simply trust him.

Amidst the floods of a weakened economy and a government shutdown, God, once again, proved to be bigger and mightier than the floods as we saw ten Heartland Alumni work together to be sure that every cent of the $1000 was covered. We are blessed and thankful that we could do our part as the Colorado alumni to give back to the place where God so mightily transformed our lives into the servants we are today!

In His Service,
