Regional Meetings

Dear Fellow Alumni,

After having been at Heartland for over 10 years, both as a student and now as staff, it has been a great privilege to get to know students and graduates from many different years. Those of us who serve here in OKC have the opportunity to reunite and fellowship regularly with graduates as they come back for the Alumni Homecoming Week in October, when they bring a youth group for College Days, come to see a sibling or friend graduate, travel through on deputation, present at the Home Missions Conference, bring a student to college in the fall, etc. Over the past few years, I have realized more and more how blessed I am to be able to fellowship with like-minded men and women of God who graduated from Heartland or PCBBC and are now being used around the world to accomplish His will.

However, most of the graduates of PC/HBBC do not live here in the OKC area and do not have that privilege. Many of you, as you serve around the world, do not get a chance to fellowship with other graduates very often. Perhaps you have a few graduates who were in your class that you keep in touch with, but probably not many. As we have more and more graduates around the country, the Alumni Association desire is to help connect alumni from many different class years and experiences with other like-minded alumni in that part of the country. We are working to develop a system of regional alumni meetings that will be hosted by churches and alumni. These meetings would allow graduates in that region of the country to gather together for the purpose of fellowship and encouragement and may take on different styles. Some may be centered around a traditional “preaching” meeting, or perhaps, they may be a simple gathering of alumni at a restaurant for a meal. Bro. Davison would like to attend if possible to be a blessing and encouragement to alumni, so we are going to try to schedule the regional meetings at times when he is in that part of the country and can attend. We believe these meetings will be a help and encouragement to all those involved.

Bro. Dave Hardy mentioned recently what a blessing it is to go to a fellowship meeting, not because you want to get something out of it, but rather with the desire to be a blessing and help to others who are attending. As we work on developing these regional alumni meetings, I would encourage you to attend one that is in your part of the country, not just so that you can be blessed and get something out of it (though I am confident you will), but so you can be a blessing to other graduates, some of whom may really need the encouragement. In the meantime, while we work on the organization of these meetings, think about calling fellow alumni whom you haven’t heard from in a while and see how they are doing. I am confident you will receive a blessing and be a blessing to them.
